50 years of an iconic era in music merits a celebratory collection.
Tommy Hilfiger has introduced the new Tommy Jeans Remastered collection, honoring both the 50th anniversary of hip-hop and Tommy Hilfiger’s connection to the cultural movement. The capsule offers a contemporary selection of staple pieces plucked straight from the archives. The campaign also announces a long-term partnership with British rapper and future voice of hip-hop, Central Cee, and Grammy-nominated American rapper GloRilla. “An iconic anniversary calls for an iconic capsule.” said Tommy Hilfiger in a statement. “With this collection, we celebrate moments in style that defined the ‘90s hip-hop look and rework them for today. I am so excited to work with Central Cee and GloRilla—two modern icons who are bringing the culture’s fearless creativity to the next generation.”
In a campaign captured by Lea Winkler, both Central Cee and GloRilla are captured in portraits that echo the golden age of hip-hop photography. With a minimalist aesthetic, the artists are spotted centerstage, getting the chance to spotlight their artistry. The visuals also introduce the digitally animated 3D hip-hop duo Ghost Kidz, part of an extended partnership with global entertainment company Superplastic.
The 17-piece collection features both relaxed and baggy fits adorned with iconic Tommy Hilfiger design motifs. Re-invigorated pieces include a new version of the striped rugby jersey made famous by hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg on his 1994 “Saturday Night Live” appearance. Aaliyah, the late Tommy Hilfiger muse, was once seen with the “Big Logo” puffer, now remixed with the red, white, and blue Tommy flag in a contemporary monochrome black and gray. Bringing in the Y2K era of hip-hop, a versatile cropped leather biker jacket is included, as worn by TLC.
Further selections reside in relaxed fits including the leather preppy varsity jacket with a red, white, and black twist, an Air Force-style boxy cropped nylon jacket, and black denim baggy cargo pants. The birth year of the Hilfiger brand, 1985, is highlighted in the oversized archive football jersey tee, that was recently worn by Central Cee during his “On The Radar” performance. The character Lil’ ILL appears in the Tommy Jeans Remastered archive flag jacket in iconic red, white, and blue, and Filth-E in the black archive football jersey tee.
The new collection will be available starting on November 6, 2023, on tommy.com, at select Tommy Jeans stores, and through select wholesale partners.
